Buddhists are the devotees of Gautam Buddha who discovered and taught the ideas of Buddhism, in the base of which are the Four Noble Truths, in Eastern India around 6th century BCE. To look for inward peace and profound salvation Buddhists leave upon a journey which takes them to places which are connected with Lord Buddha. Amid such attempts they look for the scent of Buddha as it would empower them to discover internal euphoria. This article endeavors to follow the spots where the edified one's shadow fell, from his introduction to the world in Lumbini to his Parinirvana in Kushinagar, as they are most noteworthy destinations of Buddhist Pilgrimage.

'Lumbini', in present day Nepal, is one of the four greatest locales of Buddhist Pilgrimage (the other 3 being Bodh Gaya, Sarnath and Kushinagar) as this was the spot where Gautam Buddha was conceived. Head Ashoka raised an Ashokan Pillar (in 3rd Cent BCE) which can at present be seen today. This spot is likewise an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
